Jonathan Winters and Robin Williams, what a combo!

 

Even though that's kind of when Mork and Mindy jumped the shark, it was a brilliant comedy duo.

I still love comedy today, for sure, but I feel like there was one golden age right about when Robin was up and coming. The older guys like Winters and Knotts were still around, and the young pups like Robin and Eddie were on their way up, and the already established but not yet old dudes like Pryor and Martin were still going strong. Comedy was so much fun then!

Hah! I'm actually quite excited for the dirty 30. I think it's going to be my best decade yet! Going back to school again, health is meh but not as bad as when I was 18-25, finally figured out how to style my hair, and probably living alone for the first time in years at some point soon-ish, which I imagine will be a refreshing change of pace.



I'm calling it Under the Antelope Valley Sun, except I live in the desert instead of Italy, and I'm not quite Diane Lane!

It was much more .... imaginative then.

 

Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of amazing comedy still happening and I'm most excited by the diversity in comedy now which brings amazing perspectives and abilities to crack jokes, but back then? So much was new as the 60s had just happened and it felt like a lot of the old, former rules got thrown out the door and comedians could just do...more. Like Carlin.

I haven't yet, but I've been so excited for it that it's literally on my calendar that it was being released today. I'm looking forward to it. And I'm with you - I never think "how couldn't you know?" about their families and loved ones, and that doesn't even count how very normal Bundy was on the surface.
