I might kill some one at the social security office before the day is over. We had some pretty bad flooding here a few years ago and one of the things we lost was my son's social security card. I know the number so we never got around to going and getting it replaced but now he has a job and wants to open a checking acct so I went to their website and looked up how to replace a minors card it said fill out application gather document and gave a list for parent and child and said mail or bring in. Well husbands office is several floors above the social security office in Harrisburg and he had to go to the office today so he figured he'd take care of it. I figured since mailing it is an option (I'm just not comfortable mailing those document) The child did not need to be there. To be certain my husband called yesterday and was again told what documents to bring and that the child did not need to be there. Runs down on his break what do they tell him.... the child needs to be present.
