Kiddo's father goes by his middle name, always has. Kiddo just found out his father's first name about a year ago and freaked out!

Back in the day when they handed out paychecks at work it would take people forever to figure out wtf the check was for.

And if we answered the phone and they asked for him by first name, we'd just hang up. Not someone we wanted to talk to.

Our daughter's birth certificate has his full legal name on it, but he only signs with his middle name so his signature does not include his first name, neither does his driver's license. He really hates his first name.

 

Wait I was wrong. I went to school with a kid who had the same last name and kids used to make fun of his name, but never directed it at me. Does that count? It wasn't clever and only almost rhymed - they only kept doing it because it upset him so much. Kids are mean.

He also once asked me out (I was not a fan of his and one of our classmates convinced him I liked him so he'd ask me out in front of the class and be humiliated. Kids are mean.) I said no, and he assumed it was because the name thing would be weird - an assumption I did not correct.

My first name is the same as my pops (well I was a Jr.) So, when I worked for him, there was some hilarity... "Do you want the one born in 58 or the one born in 80" when it was stuff like insurance comapnies.

And that's why I stopped going by Davie.

 

Well, apparently, when he first started work, several of them thought he was gay and living with a man named Burt or Bearnie, which is basically along the same lines. They were quite confused when I appeared

He is 10000000000000000000% NOT A DAVID. And moreso not a Dave. I like the name Dave. I'd fall over laughing if I even thought of his father in that name. He was called Davy as a young lad and abhorred it and insisted everyone use his middle name. And it stuck. Forever.
