02/28 - Floating Futon Friday!

The first time I put on my glasses I looked around the room and was like... everything is so DUSTY! So it was a cool realization of new sight but I had to start cleaning cause it was gross.

 

I can't see faces at stores, but when I wear glasses - I can see these people from so far away. It's wild. It's like I assumed that I was invisible to others, like people across the store didn't know who I was - but came to the conclusion, that these people can see me just fine, it was just that my vision sucked so I assumed everyone's did.

Glasses are magical.

I just hate fucking wearing them

 

I got new glasses a couple months ago, and they said I had to get the anti-glare lenses because of my astigmatism. And I really don't like them. The anti-glare thing make the colors of things a bit off. Everything's just slightly differently colored and it throws me off. Uncanny valley kind of thing

 

you arent alone in that....it just slightly skews the colors. not super noticeable but enough that it bugs me

 

yeah exactly that, everything was just vaguely fuzzy enough that i thought it was normal, and having them is like super vision. i still only wear them half the time because i suck and i'm used to the fuzz. though i guess that's probably the opposite of this:

When I was growing up I was so jealous of kids with glasses. I probably need glasses now, but going to the doctor is hard so... my dream remains unfulfilled.

My sister had glasses as a kid too and hated them - probably why I wanted them so badly lol. I now realize they're probably a pain in the ass, but still love the look - all you glasses kids look cute af

 

My husband went to the eye doc yesterday. He said they were adjusting his prescription. I said "HAHA do you need bifocals? Can I giggle just a little bit?"

He glared at me and said "Tracy, I already have bifocals"

for what it's worth, walmart's eye care center made it ridiculously easy to deal with. i was fed up one day after transcribing doctor notes with a headache and drove my ass to walmart right after work and walked out with an rx, and glasses in my hand a couple days later. i know money sucks though, even if their prices are good relative to other places. i used my tax return at the time.

 

My glasses were like 160 would have been cheaper but that anti-glare shit's expensive and the exam was 60 at walmart. Took maybe 10 minutes for the exam and 15 to pick glasses

 

We were leaving the store and my husband said "Come on Batwoman." I asked him why he called me that and he said "because you're blind as a bat"

Thanks, friend . Spending money sucks obvi, but it's the process that's the worst for me. Making the appointment, and mostly having to explain the fact that I don't think I've had an eye exam since elementary school when they brought that chart around from class to class
