Kiddo's high school is a ghost town. There are about 1,600 students in his school. Today attendance showed 1,100 were absent. One more day left, tomorrow, then closed for a minimum of two and a half weeks. Due to some laws, there won't be homework. (Something about equal opportunity and since they can't offer tutoring to students who need it then it's not fair to give homework because some can't do it without help.)

Kiddo said that the principal came over the loudspeaker today and praised all the students who were there for how calmly and rationally they are handling this crisis.

Kiddo wants to go back tomorrow for the last day then will totally enjoy two and a half weeks with no homework!

I hear Matt-bot and his coworkers chanting, "EYYYY SINK MONNNN!" with bad Jamaican accents and creep in the living room to see that the bot has made a picture of a Rasta man sitting at a computer to refer to the "Sync Monitor" they use to share design work. Everytime they have a meeting to check up on things, they all chant, "EYYY! PUT IT ON THE SINK MONNNNN!"

I'm both laughing and realizing I'm gong to hear this over and over and over and over and over and over.

 

I am actually out for the day, but not for this reason (lest anyone be concerned for my mental well being XD ) TTFN, friends!

They made the decision on Sunday to close. They waited three days to fully shut down to give parents who needed it the time to arrange childcare and whatnot.

We could keep our kids home these last three days if we wanted to and it would be excused.

So tomorrow is the official last day.

There were only two confirmed cases in our county when they made this decision, so we weren't overrun with cases or exposure even. I'm sure that will soon change.
