3/4 cups cold lard
1/4 cup cold butter
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/8 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
5 tablespoons cold whole milk
1 tablespoon of ice water

Mix flour, sugar and salt until well combined
Add butter and lard to flour mixture until crumbly
Add milk and mix until dough starts to come together.
Dump the dough onto a floured surface, add the water into the dough, working with your hands to form it into a ball. (If you need additional water, use just a tiny amount until you get the ball shape)
Divide in half, form into a disc and wrap in plastic to chill for about an hour
Soften slightly before rolling out
Bake at 375 for 15 minutes

I have to tell you guys this little story! On Christmas eve this past year, the family got together and decided to not do a formal christmas dinner. We had pepperoni Stromboli. My brother had to stop at fast food on the way in for my 10 year old nephew because he insisted he would not like the taste of "Rolled Pizza".

 

now I just need to find a large hoard of bagels.

 

How do you know whether kids will or won't like something if you never let them try it?

Not sure I'd tell the story of your brother abandoning his kid at a fast food restaurant.. pretty sure he should have dropped the kid off at a hospital but either way it sounds well deserved.

 

My brother thought my nephew would love it. It was my nephew who didn't want to taste it.
