ok actual answer though, from my own experience:
Sony - fine
Nintendo - garbage
xbox - never used

 

imo, Xbox new game pass is nice, its kinda pricey if you go month to month (buy a card, slickdeals and such always have deals) but you get a MASSIVE library of games to download for free (and includes XBL) and they still do the games with gold so you get a couple games for free a month

nintendo eh, its ok, i havent used it much since i dont have a switch right now

sony, tbh, they have, to me, always been fairly good. they give mostly good games away per month with the online service they have. but in the area like i said above for a backlog of games, they kinda falter here. MS slightly edges them out in this dept.

but all in all, its going to depend on what YOU want to do and what YOU are most comfortable using and what games YOU want to play. there are still games that are console exclusives to the three so thats something you will have to decide.

 

Do you experience slow downloads on PSN? That is the only thing I seem to still deal with at times.

 

I just wanna do a short comment on this, just cause I find it a little bewildering.
When I hear a phrase like "putting games out as reksins of old games", you know what comes to my mind instantly? Call of Duty
You know what doesn't ever come to my mind? Nintendo! lmao. what games are you guys thinking of when you pair that phrase with nintendo? Pokemans?

 

That right there. If Nintendo is putting out the games you want to play then go Nintendo. Same for Playstation or Xbox. No one can sit and say who is better or worse because that is all opinion based anyway.

 

I do not currently own a 4k TV and probably won't get one for another year or two. For sony/xbox current gen consoles is the xbox one x/ps4 pro worth the extra cost over the xbox one s/ps4 slim?

 

Even Pokemon has come a long way in recent years. I haven't played Sword/Shield yet, but X/Y and Sun/Moon are way different than previous games so I'm not even sure that complaint even applies there.

 

Pokemon. Mario has been mostly the same since Mario 64. Again, are they games fun? Hell yeah, but it is still mostly the same game with some new mechanics.

Call of Duty is absolutely the same year in a year out 100%.

Only if I use wifi. I swear the wifi chip they used in the ps4/ps4 pro came out of a Cap'n Crunch box in a plastic wrapper. It works fine if I have it plugged in via ethernet.

 

Nope. AFAIK the main benefit for both of those options is to take full advantage of a ridiculous TV

 

ok so heres my opinion on this cause oddly enough, my son and i had this discussion right before CV19 decided to bust in on us like the goddamn pandemic kool aid man
X1X, yes, its nicer, it plays games a bit better, its choked to the gills with power user features. will most average gamers use said features, prolly not. but if you can get an X1X for about the same price as the XB1, do it. its like akin to buying a car with a sport package. will you use everything in that sport package? prolly not, but if its not much more money wise, most people will opt for it.

now ps4/pro, this one is a larger kinda...eh....it *WILL* be noticeable in a lot of larger games and game play. its VERY noticeable (ive got multiple ps4s here from rebuilding them as a hobby and the ps4 pro i own just...wow...different). again its back to the price, if you can get a pro in same scope of price as a reg, DO IT.

yup, i buy the CoD games and the other shooters usually the next iteration when they are 75% off and such basically cause its the same game reskinned and because i buy every game for my collection

 

It seems to still happen on ethernet for me too. Either way, it is not a huge deal. I need to get on it again soon. I have a bunch of games I haven't touched yet but I got roped back into The Witcher.

 

are you using reg wifi or the higher end 5.0?
cause i can totally see a difference on my ps4 when im connected to the different bands on my router.

 

I just want to mention that I personally went directly from a ps4 to a ps4 pro. And eagerly opened up my games to see the huge difference, and there was none for me anyways. It IS possible I just have horrible eyesight. I also never put an SSD in either one (the ps4 or ps4 pro) cause I guess im just incredibly lazy. should be coming with one by now anyways. isnt the next gen? bah

I tried both. and the router is like 6 feet away in the same room. no excuses! just a super shitty wifi card they used. common reported problem

also, is that with just a few minutes of testing or have you actually used them all like you would your primary console?
what I mean is that it could be fine for a few, or even 30 minutes, before it just becomes shit and starts dropping the connection. It becomes a huge pain in the ass if you're trying to have a 6 hour gaming session or w/e

 

well for mine i buy broken lots and repair and resell, but each console ive had that ive repaired i play test at least 12 hours game time (no, not all at once, im not that crazy lol) and ive had one of the first run models give some sketchy wifi connections but the rest ive had no real issues. i mean yeah a few hiccups but my comcast isnt rock solid here, it hiccups a lot. but again, maybe im lucky?
