That's what I get for hurrying up to make a point before going out for a smoke. Yes to lubricants ruining rubbers, no to burning my junk. Unless you dunk your hands in ketone or xylene for long periods of time, you shouldn't get chemical burns. It usually takes more than that. And water based lubricants are total fine with rubbers whether made of latex or non-latex material.

If they change their gloves every 15min, they should be fine (although an open flame close to gloves is bad since gloves melt, they don't burn, so they melt with the skin, a smoke would probably not melt the glove before you'd feel the burn on your fingers and drop the smoke).
