That's cheap. More expensive out here! Like 5-7K (well, that's for a package unit, so I guess 3-5K is fine if it's just the a/c)

and if mine died? Hells yes I'd be plopping out 7K for a new one. It's 101 on my North facing front porch, and it's fully covered AND shaded by a tree and is where my weather thingy is. I don't even want to know what it is in my back yard in the sun (west facing and in full sun where it's not shaded by trees).

I wouldn't complain if I were you but omg. I cannot imagine surviving this summer without an air conditioner. My mom's had issues yesterday and she has a portable she can use in one room that's the only thing that saved her, or I probably would have had her come sleep here it's been so hot and in my opinion she's too old to be in high heat.
