05/27 - Walking Wednesday

Our ceiling fans save us often. Unless it's blazing outside (like, over 100 today!) we can often get away with just them on for a while. It was in the 90s the other day and we managed without the ac until before bedtime when I turned it on to cool things down because I already sleep hot.

But at 100? I'd be blowing that fan across a bucket filled with ginormous ice blocks.

 

My ceiling is 25 ft so the fans only do so much....

Also it being really hot in your house is bad for your electronics, something people who invest lots of money int that stuff should be aware of. Also while it sounds like a great idea, blowing air across ice in your house is a surefire way to get moisture in all of your devices and cause them to fry.

 

Yeah, I sleep hot too. I have a fan blowing directly on me full blast all night. It is not perfect but it is just enough.

Once I switched to a mini split for AC, I never looked back, cost about $800 from amazon and $200 to install for 18000 btu (ran electric myself). Dropped my cooling and heating costs, has been reliable and I only have to cool one floor and not the whole house with a central AC.
