How far are you from Aiken? I went to the Bridgestone plant there on a contract job once to replace a mixer auger and transmission. Steam thermostat valve failed in the closed position, and the rubber congealed. Snapped the auger and stripped the gears in the transmission.

It was nice being able to go to a bar in Augusta at 8 am after work.

 

Anything south of Columbia basically doesn't exist as a real place, it's just a black hole with Charleston floating somewhere in space until you get to Georgia.

Columbia only really exists as a warning that you're entering a sad blemish on our great lol jk can't say that with a straight face state.

Hilton Head is nice too but really Savannah should've annexed that area long time ago.

I didn't really get a chance to go out and explore. It was an emergency job that they'd paid like quadruple price to get us there ASAP since they're a prototype factory. Even as contractors, we had to change into Bridgestone issued boots and uniforms so we couldn't cross-contaminate the machinery or "accidentally" carry out their proprietary rubber blends on our boots or clothes or pockets.

Tire companies are almost as strict as nuclear power plants when it comes to decon and trade secrets.

 

I mean, most manufacturers of any sort are naturally dirty. This plant, you could literally eat off the floor. They had like 10 people whose sole job it was to drive floor cleaners with non-stop in 8 hour shifts. They had a negative-pressure smoking tent with a friggin airlock-style entry-way, rather than let employees step foot outside to smoke and bring dirt in with them.

 

MA is one of the higher cost of living states. Good schools, but also fuck cold weather and expensive housing costs.

 

You could realistically argue that most things north of Columbia are also not real places. Pretty sure Charleston is the only relevant thing that SC has contributed to the entire south.

 

I'm sorry are you speaking ill of Myrtle Beach? I'll have you know that's the only place a girl can get drunk enough to be silly enough to agree to marry my dumb self
