I like where your heart is at, but this is bad advice @ academics because a portion of the answers is gonna be "well I'd do this for free, I love science!"

Lmao @ your edit.. FWIW to answer your question, you're just misunderstanding how MTurk works. It displays how many is available to you - not how many assignments are available to all workers.

You see surveys post from places like TP and the # is higher than one because they're circumventing the fee scheduling to make the platform cheaper. Requesters who set max completions = 500 but don't circumvent the fees will only display 1 to you on the HITs list.

Then there is some mixin w/ junk like unique turker, but basically you're conflating the HITs available to you with what's available to everyone else. It disappears when you accept it because you're now no longer eligible to accept it again.

That's the scariest qualification you can get.

 

For me personally, $2 for 12 minutes is actually really reasonable and probably more than I actually average day in and day out. I'm not sure why you are getting so much venom. It's probably because not many requesters ask for feedback on how much they pay. It has probably more to do with the fact that most of us want better pay overall across the board. I don't think it's fair to get picked on when you're probably offering more than average wages

All good. Appreciate it. Paying more won't necessarily help my study, as I'm trying to attract individuals with very specific experiences. Paying $4.00 per survey completion isn't going to ensure that more individuals qualify for my study, per se. This dialogue is good though. Again, I appreciate the feedback.

 

Yes it will. If you actually pay a decent wage, more people who qualify for your study will actually do it instead of passing it by for actual decently paying work.

No one's picking on him. No one's saying mo one will do his work. The problem at hand is he's not getting enough respondents. -- More money buys more work. Incentive is what drives us.
