I think it's really that, after 21 years of being stuck with me married to me we both realize that just taking three minutes to listen to your partner's nonsense can do wonders to keep a happy and contented relationship.

I know it's more important to me than it is to her. I know it's really trivial in the grand scheme of things.

But, well, she still makes my heart tingle when she patiently listens to me complain that my French omelette didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped this morning.

Or maybe she really does have ear plugs and I'm just oblivious because they're hidden under her hair. But it keeps me happy anyway.
