07/13 - Maybe They Won't Notice The Lack of Theme Monday

I converted a video to mp4, cuz that's what the internet said they recognize but when I plug it in, I get no media recognized. I tried reformatting the USB to FAT from NTFS and still nothing.

 

It's not seeing any of the files at all?

 

Nothing, tried to make a folder as well and that didn't show up

 

Try adding some other files like picture files and stuff just to see if it sees anything at all. Is it through Vizio's own media player?

 

Yeah it's not a smart TV and has a popup to browse when you plug it in

How big is the USB drive? Sometimes having too large a file drive will make televisions or printers or other devices unable to handle the large volume.

That might be the problem. Do you have an 8GB or a 4GB? Also, what codecs? A quick search indicates you need to use H.264 video and AAC audio. I know that a few years ago my daughter was struggling to do something similar on a projector and the video/audio codecs had to be just right.

 

I used Handbrake to convert from mkv to mp4, but also the pictures I just threw on there didn't show up either.

 

Gonna have to go hunt out in the shed for an older one I onl have 16gb and 32 gb drives in my room lol

 

It is weird that it is not seeing anything so maybe it is the stick.

 

I'm going with the drive being too big as my best guess until proven otherwise, then.

 

I've also had problems sometimes if the usb was 2.0 or 3.0. Older electronics tend to only work with 2.0.
