Also I like how I typed that original paragraph up like 4 hours ago, never hit send figuring nah no one needs to hear my whining today, then just failed to remove it when quickly replying to a bug report esque forum post and am now reminded you sick people mostly still come here for my pain

..it's bolted onto the desk now. I left a lot of wood and scaffolding out of the mspaint.

You couldn't just buy one that had a clamp so you could easily remove it from the desk?

 

It had a clamp man. But once clamped, the monitors were still scuffed so I continued to add new pieces of "stabilizer" for .. 3 hours? before realizing it's just made wrong.

 

I come here because this whole place amuses me your pain is just a nice bonus

 

Yea if you buy a monitor clamp pole and arm for 2 monitors and it takes longer than 20 minutes, you need a different one.

 

Also if you had a glass desk would you have like broken the pane?

Judging by the completely warped plastic table I tried swapping to thinking maybe it would hold better.. yes.

Fun fact: a $15 bifolding table from walmart will actually allow you to crush the very hollow plastic core if you tighten a clamp enough times on it no matter how many coasters or scrap pieces of wood you shove in to "disperse pressure"

 

@WillowWolf and @AlexZ I know you feel my pain. This has been driving me nuts since I got my new monitor. The new one doesn't fit under the mount I had so going to have to get one that allows me to "stack" 2 monitors on the left

 

how my son does not already have all of this is beyond me

Amazon has free returns dude. Take that pile of bent metal and tears to Kohl’s and they will take that load of misery with a smile, package it up for you, send it off to wherever Bezos hoards the worlds misery and you get a refund before you are back to the car
