Places with competition get much better data caps or they just don't exist. I have two options right now. AT&T or Spectrum. They only compete with each other and don't have much incentive to do anything about their shit service because your other option is shit service.

The other reason to keep cable is that bundling gets me no data cap.

I'm comcast or AT&T, I've had both....Comcast has better speeds but costs more, they both have data caps so it's super fun shit.

Only 22% of households have children. How many of them are allowed to watch tv? What percentage of them have a tv in the house? And now accounting for poverty how many of them are using the Internet for tv regularly? Quick Google search says 150 million Americans play video games. I would be willing to bet from experience that most of those games are played on Facebook something similar. How many households have Internet but basically don't use it? I would be willing the bet this is true for the vast majority of elderly people, but they're still counted as households. Statistics are basically a mathematical way to lie to you, so even if what they are saying is technically true it's still bullshit. So yeah, I still think 99.9% of households don't use 1.2TB of data.

So does that mean you think very few people own Xboxs or Playstations or gaming PCs? Like you think its a dead market?

No. I think that they're doing great. However, data has shown that the overwhelming majority of games being played are mobile games.

That's like saying that Target must be a dead market, because Wal-mart makes more money than they do. Target only makes 78 billion dollars a year, compared to Wal-mart's 524 billion a year.

Yeah both option here have caps unless you bundle with cable. The other option is paying an extra $60/month for no cap. Cable isn't so much more than an extra $60, so I figured at least get something for my money.

All I'll say is as someone who games and has children that do, the last call of duty game has an update that was 115 gbs...with a data cap something like that is a real problem.

I'm paying an extra 25 to be uncapped...it use to be 50. But now Comcast will cut you a break if you use their router/modem.

I don't game much, not much time for it these days, but when I did it got pretty ridiculous how much data games used. As someone who has a kid though, I can definitely relate.

The best story about him was he chose to go to a college that is roughly an hour and a half away......1 weekend he shows up and says my speed at the dorm is terrible I'm getting 5 mbps down on these downloads...

He drove 90 minutes to plug his xbox and playstations into my hardline to download the games he bought and his updates......4 hours and about 1.5 terabytes later he headed back to college.

    True story.

Surprised to hear that University line was actually slower than home line. Wonder what they're doing over there.

This is a big reason that game streaming is being pursued by every major platform. Data requirements are just way too big.
