Nah, even the old one did reset to ON once I actually pushed it to off hard enough. But it stays on for MAYBE 15-20s before tripping again. Replaced it, same thing.

The water heater is brand new (like 1,5yrs maybe?) so most likely the line got chewed on / stable rusted through / who knows they said. Someone came and tested it and idk what this means but on the 240v line to the water heater they're measuring 120v (maybe with it disconnected?) or some such. Idk man might as well have been speaking voodoo to my lizard brain lmao
