ok didn't mean to post the last one yet.

I am dealing with some issues related to identity theft and was hoping somebody more tech savvy then me could help me figure something out. these are not the actual email address (providers are accurate if that makes a difference) but for sake of this discussion my gmail account [email protected] was compromised in a data breach now I'm dealing with some ass hat working their way across the country applying for unemployment benefits and such in my name. In addition my gmail account is being flooded with all kids of email indicating of signed of for stuff like a ton everyday. thing is when I look at the top of the email saying thanks for signing up for "whatever" it's not sent to my gmail account it is sent to [email protected]. I may have had and aol account back in the 90's but not by that name and not since so not my account and I'm definitely not using it to sign up for this crap.

Can't close the account cause I have no freakin idea what the password is my question is how is this stuff showing up in my gmail account I checked the gmail setting and nothing has been changed there is there any way I can block these emails from coming through or better yet anyone know how I can shut that aol account down

Do you see any accounts listed under "Check mail from other accounts"?

Are those messages that are meant for [email protected] coming from the same email address?

So for example, instead of coming from @spotify.com or @apple.com, they are all coming from @fakeassdomain.com ?

no coming from a bunch of different companies everyday. Someone is using the account to sign me up for a bunch of crap and ennrollme in stuff plus it seems to have been added to some spammy email list. I'm working on shutting down the gmail account but email is used as the log in info for so much stuff these days I know I'm going to end up locking myself out of something. But even when I shut down the gmail account It bothers me that there is still an aol account out there with my info attached to eat

So when you open any of those emails, let's take HBO Max as an example, you see [email protected] at the top as in my screenshot and not [email protected] or some other random email? And then when you click on "to me" it says "to: [email protected]"?

 

or just annoyed and lets face it my typing skills are questionable at best when I'm not frustrated

tried calling aol got tired of being on hold tried to contact them on online but emailing them requires I log into the account I didn't create and chatting with them online requires I I upgrade said account
