    I wouldn't say totally random. There's probably a system but with a random algorithm thrown in somewhere to keep people from gaming the system (they already have a problem with international people claiming to be in the US, can you imagine what would happen if they could get master by knowing the criteria?). Though, with that being said, I wouldn't say having masters is better than not having it since usually the only benefit is no captchas with only a rare survey/batch for just masters. Closed quals are the best way to go :emoji_wink:

    The no captchas benefit is worth just about everything to me. I wouldn't even be so salty about masters if after say 175K approved hits they were like "no more captchas"
