Thank you for saying all of that. I unfortunately don't have any mechanical experience, so I chose spend a bit more to get a newer car with some warranty left on it. As soon as things clear up in my area, I plan on taking the car to someone trustworthy to have a look at it. After reading your experience, I kinda feel like I should move that appointment up a bit .

I have always wondered. what do you do if your car breaks down while driving? how do you get it off the street? and then if you leave it there because you can't afford to have it towed back to your place, then what happens? someone else or the police has it towed and then they send you a bill for like $1,000 or something?

 

Essentially you have 30 days to claim it in most situations, and if you don't than the state will assume ownership of the vehicle and auction it off.

 

It's going. I'm not nearly quite the angry, cranky ash hole as I was when it first started out. Still tired though. The 31st is my last scheduled day unless the machine breaks down...again. It's looking kinda nasty bc I'm getting constant 1st degree radiation burns and my teeth are shifting from the bone loss (which, actually, is a good thing because my bite is aligning for the first time since I was like

If your car is under warranty, if you take it into a dealer (or wherever you bought it from) the shop dudes are gonna take precautions. Wiping everything down, make you drive it up and down off the lift, etc. Then kick you out of the bay while they work. Look on r/justrolledintotheshop and you'll see what kind of precautions they take. And what kind of things can go bad if you put off warranty work for too long.

Yup. That's what happened with my last truck. Even though it was stolen, it was "Pay the towing fees and register it (It happened the last week of Sept., when my registration was due)" and despite the fact that it was stripped and barely drivable, I still had to register it or pay a towing company to haul it off the lot. Couldn't even tow it with a uHaul towing dolly.

I was homeless at the time and the cost of having it towed plus the impound *despite being the victim of a crime* was more than I'd paid and put into the damn thing. And since all of my stuff was gone out of it, wasn't worth the money.

 

I'm glad things are going better for you. Take it easy and get some rest
