Some freakin how I've almost made goal today in between trying to ruin CT's day. So thankful for that to cause man it was pretty awful when I first got on.

But has anyone worked out why there's a discrepancy between totals on mturk dashboard and what's listed in the 1099k? I really don't feel like figuring it out. Much easier to just trust the numbers on dashboard

Reqs using AWS billing aren't included as best we can figure. Which means they owe you a 1099 if you made 600+ working for them but idk if they know that so gl lol

I have been rejected a few times by this Requester so I started taking screenshots of my completed tasks to look back on; proof that they we're done correctly. Unfortunately the Requester does not reply when you ask for a reason.

So far the one requester that this has affected has told me that they don't have any plans to provide tax documents to workers. Which, honestly, doesn't surprise me, it's not like they have my real life information or anything necessary to actually fill out a 1099 form.

Update: I can't type for shit today.

 

Doesn't really seem to be a good reason not to just use the dashboard numbers right? Those numbers reflect when we receive the wages not when we worked the HITs right?

 

Yes and no. Technically, for the sake of tax reporting, it's not your money until you get paid for it. So, for example, if you did $1000 of work on 12/29/20, but it didn't pay out until 01/03/21, you wouldn't claim it on your 2020 taxes.

Personally, I track when the money is sent to my bank on a spreadsheet. I'll be using that, assuming that the AWS thing doesn't get resolved, to file my taxes as that will line up with when the money was transferred to my bank... aka when I got paid.

 

I searched on reddit and came up with nothing. Google didn't find anything for me either. Any turkers been audited? I'm gonna pay my taxes, but it almost seems like in general turkers make too little for the IRS to even bother with.

 

Yup, just trying to verify that the numbers on the dashboard totals reflect when we are paid the wages rather than when we worked the HIT.

Which would make sense and I assume is the case because 2021 totals on dashboard shows me having made 8 bucks in 2021 despite not doing a single HIT or receiving a bonus in 2021.

 

Dashboard numbers don't show up until the money is yours. I get the transferred to your bank but by January 31st every one of those is going to be approved and likely transferred to your bank the latest at which would be like February 2nd.
