I think a union for MTurk/Prolific workers is the stupidest idea on the face of the planet and anyone who suggests it without heavy irony should just be shuttled off to a camp in Pyongyang.

That said there are perfectly reasonable arguments and protections/frameworks that exist for our work type, and they should be respected, and Prolific has a long storied history of shitting on many of them, often all at the same time, and they get a pass because apparently academia doesn't have the spine to admit it doesn't actually care about ethics any more than the fast food industry cares about vegans.
