Please god don't say that cause my a.c.'s are old a tired. lmfao I did however replace my hot water elements 3 weeks ago, so it is in perfect working order.

Definitely look into changing your heating elements first. $30 vs $500+.

It's neat how they come with a "warranty" except going to HD to replace the cheap garbage inside the metal box is faster than waiting 3 months for them to send someone "certified" with their warranty repair program :emoji_rolling_eyes::emoji_sweat_smile:
Oh it's (hopefully) for sure that. The other one went out last year lol.

We're in nearly the same boat. We proactively replaced the hot water heater two years ago, but just waiting in quiet dread until something expensive dies. All the appliances (fridge, washing machine, etc.) are 15 years old, as are the a/c units.

It's most definitely that unless it is an issue in the wiring TO the hot water heater itself. If the tank rusted and had a leak you would have known by now. My water heater was manufactured in 2008 and I am not replacing it until the tank rusts. lol When you replace the element you might as well replace them both and the thermostats. They all come in the package together. You can definitely do it yourself, as long as you take a pic of how it was wired before you take it apart. It is Way easier than I thought it would be. Few tips: open the air lock on top when draining it, or else it'll take forever, and close the air lock when filling it, but make sure you have your hot water taps open or it'll create a vacuum and not fill. I remember you hate Lowes, so I added Home Depot, but they're the exact same, so it really doesn't matter.

Did it immediately trip right away when you flipped it back on with a very loud and audible pop?
