I saw an interesting comment on that thread:

The all seeing eye is a free mason symbol. They still exist today and its basically like a fraternity where powerful people meet and discuss things about the world, business, connections that dates back to the 1700s. Some lodges are more influental than others. Free masons are totally real too, Im not sure about the illuminati being real, seems like bad memes to me. You can search for free mason lodges in your state and I bet a bunch pop up but its hard to join, someone already in the lodge must invite you to join and then all the members of the lodge must agree to let you join, which could be anywhere

I live in a small town of 10,000 people. Yet there are 3 mason lodges here. Also I never see anyone going into one, and there are never any cars parked there. However, the grounds are always immaculately kept.

I did this a few days ago. It was a lot of fun, really easy. took about 20 minutes once it actually started.

 

I visited my stepdad's family in Illinois and all of them were masons. We ate at a mason lodge for dinner. It's a strange little club... bunch of white dudes and weird symbols you earn for certain reasons. They wouldn't tell me too much about it.

I have a free mason lodge right near me as well and I have never noticed anybody ever at it. It is kind of creepy now that I think about it.

I think you are confusing Free Masons with Boyscouts, Lodges with Dens, and the weird symbols with badges. Anyway, you get them for learning how to make fire.

 

@Melting Glacier Got to disc 3 last night (3x speed is SUCH a huge help!), doing side questy stuff now before I do the last chapter. Got everyone's final weapons and limits breaks, though I still need to level Cid, Vincent and Yuffie some more. Did the Battle Square to get Omni and W-Summon; on my last fight, I had 4 broken weapon slots, broken ribbon, 1/2 HP and MP, and all materia broken for the last battle, and still managed to squeak out a win.

It was hilarious watching Cloud do Omnislash for 100 HP per hit.

I'm definitely not. We visited a bunch of graves and his family explained to me what the symbols were, but not how you earned them. The lodge was like the town's "dinner place" but you had to swipe some security thing to get in and out and you had to be a member to bring anyone. The food was pretty good.
