I don't know how, but yeah. I remember when I started turking back in 2013 there was a guy who would sit and do underpaid batches like 14 hours a day. He said he liked it better than a real job since he could do it from home and not have to change out of his pajamas. Like, I get it, but at the same time, I gotta pay bills and $5 per hour will not cover my mortgage.

Thankfully my house -is- paid for so not pesky mortgage, but even with the relatively low upkeep.. I couldn't imagine subsisting off Turking. I don't think I do poorly at it.. but living off it? That sounds like a diet of ramen, bologna, and no luxury trips/expenses. More power to him though. Life goals, am I right?

Reminds me of the story of the businessman and the farmer. Businessman asks the farmer why he doesn't work in an office and make that fat salary that he does. The farmer asks the man why... to which the businessman replies that he works so that he can put his feet up and relax without worry. The farmer simply smiles, puts his feet up in his rocking chair and nods.

Paraphrasing that story but ya get the gist

I make more Turking than I did at any of my full time jobs. Cost of living definitely plays a part (my rural internet is only 5MB on a GOOD day, so, tradeoffs?) but there is significantly less stress, more flexibility, and the ability to comfortably be a stay at home parent and homeschool my two kids.

 

I guess if property taxes were sub $400 and assuming rural area roughly monthly $1200 between groceries, bills, and misc... that might be doable regularly I love hearing about these types of stories. Remind me to pick your brain on what was the final straw sometime?
