I honestly don't know. I'm not sure if it means anything but I took my time doing surveys when I first started and filled out the extra questions at the bottom of the original survey page. Don't quote me but I think doing StudyLab surveys may give you the CR Research Group 1 qualification. If anyone knows the real answer on how to get the CR 1 qualification please feel free to correct me or inform @nmelssx

 

I've actually been wondering about the CR1 qualification too. Do they still give it out? Like has anyone recently gotten it?

 

Survey Comet and/or Study Lab. do them when you see them and be very diligent with your work, you don't want the CR2.

 

Yeah, I think I read that during my research on it, but looks like I've done everything I am qualified to do by them already. Guess I just gotta keep up the good work and hope I get it

Yup, did that hit way back when and didn't get either qual. Maybe they use that and then add people based on demographics that they need as activity from existing people drop.

 

Don't know where the issue lied, but when it got to live video chat the other person's video/audio wasn't there. Gave up after a few minutes and then returned my HIT. Didn't want to get a rejection.

Well I'm screwed. I just did some research and apparently the "CR Research Group #1" and "CR Research Group #2" qualifications are granted from a requester called StudyLab. If you received "CR Research Group #1" then you are good, but if you received "CR Research Group #2" then you are blocked from hundreds of potential HITs that use that qualification. Basically they're saying that if you received "CR Research Group #1" then you're a good worker, but if you received "CR Research Group #2" then you're either a BOT or an inattentive worker. The problem is that whether are not you get CR#1 or CR#2 comes from an arbitrary single HIT from a single requester that can potentially just erase all your reputation that you built up on mturk just like that. More and more requesters are using that qualification, and it doesn't even matter if you have over 99% approval rate or not. They're basically replacing the approval rate qualification with that single HIT's qualification. So if you have an 1% approval rate, but have the "CR Research Group #1" qualification then you can do their HITs, but not if you have 99% approval rate, but have the "CR Research Group #2" qualification.
