Still waiting for CloudResearch to leave the planet. The way they claim using a handpicked pool of predictable participants is "data quality" and then scrutinize "the ethics of using MTurk for behavioral research" is a bit much. Kudos to all the researchers who either don't use them or dropped them.

 

It's all bad research with all the fake people that are on the mturk platform. I feel bad for the people who work for the low wages (I know there is some people who pay well) and for the people who get the bad data. I was going through the blackhatforum and so many people are looking for clients for their mturk schemes.

CR will never destroy Mturk, though they may want to. There's a massive established user base here, not to mention all the batch work which is where all the big money is at anyway. At best they will be another Prolific. (My opinion is that they're assholes for trying to segment the entire Mturk population and siphon people off to their own platform).

 

What bots? They have a distain for workers from India and their attention questions reflect that, they show a picture of an eggplant so see if someone calls it a "brinjal". The "bot scare" was their invention and they later admitted it was Indian workers. They're just trying to portray themselves as the "only" way to get good data.

 

fake workers. You know what I meant, I don't know about the company or care, I just need to make money, and will work for both because I can't get work on mturk anymore.

In theory, any company could go above and beyond what mturk does, but why would they, when they keep growing.

Did suddenly the rate at which people stay on mturk get that much higher, or did the increase of other countries increase, clearly, other countries. And I feel bad saying that because I want everyone to have work.

 

I've been working on MTurk for probably 6-7 years with a 99.89% and 130,583 approved HITs and I make the same on Prolific as I make on MTurk these days. Crazy... for me the pay on Prolific is hit or miss but I still do alright. Pretty sure Paypal is exploiting that too, I always seem a few bucks short when I convert it.

 

I really don't want to be that person, I'm in my forties, so lived some seventies and raised in the 80's. I hope it's just your wording and not racist... could be me. I started drinking after the remesh but read it five times...

people from all over the world would appreciate this opportunity and in every community there are always people with undesirable values... I would never pick a single country or culture.

 

I can assure you I'm not racist. I've just read too much from the CloudResearch site. I think it's nuts because if requesters don't want people from a certain country they can just adjust that in their HIT. But no, if you want "real data" you need CloudResearch. They blamed their entire "bot" farce on "low quality Indian workers". I actually complained to Amazon about their racism but they blew it off.

 

unfortunately, they'd just exploit those workers who would appreciate it, in countries where the laborer has even less rights (or where its harder to rub two nickels together) than the United States, which is funny because in the US; we have no rights either doing this work.

 

cloud research didn't start their quals first. Cloud research proved to AMT and numerous academic researchers that they gave more shits and were more capable of securing the platform. sorry if you are butt hurt that they caught you taking surveys that you contradicted yourself in but that is LEGIT what it sounds like.

Huh? They "caught me" what? What they "caught me" doing more than likely was being foolish enough to tell them how many HITs I've completed.

 

Glad to hear that, I will say most workers understand there is plenty of enough work without contradicting yourself. And from my experience its very difficult to get an account back after you "contradict" yourself on any platform, which is pretty shitty.

But either way, the more competition the better.
