Blue Yeti, a little pricey, but worth it. I absolutely love it! Great quality! I figure it'll pay for itself over time anyhow, plus with MTurking FT it's worth it in my eyes along with me doing some gaming and content creation as well. I payed using Affirm on Amazon so it really helped me out financially that way.

 

I bought a blue snowball on ebay for about 20 dollars. price seemed good for quality.

 

I was just looking at Blue Yeti, maybe I should just go for it because I really don't want the headache of looking through monster lists of pros and cons right now.

Hi all - I'm looking for some advice. I'm a long time Turker and Forum lurker, so I was hoping someone could clue me in on what's going on with Mturk lately. I've been busy with another project for about a month so I haven't been very active, but now it just seems absolutely dead. I have the CR1 qual and usually make about $40/day, however this last week has been brutal. I searched the forum and Reddit but nothing solid turned up. Has there been a big shift recently, or is it just a slow spell?

I did receive an email from Cloud Research about a month ago inviting me to their platform, but I haven't signed up yet...is that a factor?

Maybe it's just me lol.

 

That was my issue, but I bit the bullet and got it. I'm glad I did. I learned about it from a streamer that I watch. His mic quality always sounded so clean. It's rated #1 usb selling microphone. I keep mine on Cardioid mode and have the Gain all the way down. Prevents background noise from picking up that way with the gain down. Cardioid is perfect for what we do, there's plenty of videos going into details for the different modes if you really want to get that into it along with software you can download to fine tune things, but I haven't taken it that far as of yet.

I also have a Blue Yeti. Bought it pre-pandemic and its paid for itself 10-fold by this point. Apart from using it for gig work I also do let's plays for fun and wanted something of decent quality. I want to say I got it at Best Buy, as I wanted to buy it physically.

 

I think with Spring Break just recently happening and Summer break coming up its going to slow down a bit. We're just in a slow spell. Some days are better than others. Just MTurk for ya, unfortunately. As far as Cloud Research, I'm not sure what's up with that. We were told it would pick up at the end of May and that has yet to have happened.

I also got the whole setup of attachments with mine, but use a foam pop filter for now. Failed to mention this, although it's totally optional. I feel like the foam pop filter is worth the small extra for an extra precaution for background noise.

 

That reminds me, I found CR's site and signed up for testing, but never got any sort of 'thanks for singing up' email confirmation. Not sure if its something they just don't do (some sites do, some don't), or if there was a hiccup somewhere and my application never went through. Have you heard anything since signing up?

 

Okay, based on those recommendations I'm going to get it. Looks like it has some pretty good reviews too.
