This reminds me of when my account got locked back in 2019. The lady in customer service told me to just make a new account. I told her I use it for mturk and so it's tied to my social security number and she paused and mumbled, "oh, guess you can't just make a new one then." I think it's really an afterthought for Amazon.

 

5-22-2017 was the last time it was awarded to a large number of people (including me), as far as I'm aware.

Back when I was highly active on another forum (that seems to have solidly died), back when Turk was actually pretty active, there were constantly stories streaming in proving this was the case. It's been pretty obvious the whole time that Amazon expects to make the maximum money possible from Turk with the least amount of effort possible on their own part.

I was gonna say either 2016 or 2018 - so yeah, 2017 then!

I reeeeeaaally hope I never have to deal with MTurk account issues, because the thought of dealing with their customer service for this kind of problem sounds like pure hell

 

They asked me for three purchases I had made with my account, but I've been using my wife's account since we got married because she has prime so I was racking my brain for stuff and one of the things I remembered was my PS3 back in 2009 and holy hell I could only remember three purchases with that account PERIOD.

 

It seems like they default to normal Amazon purchasing accounts or seller accounts for 3rd party sellers. I bet that there are only like 3 customer service reps who even know what MTurk is

 

lol, because normal people what, keep a spreadsheet by date and price of all their Amazon purchases ever

from the research I remember some people doing, it was unclear that there were even that many

 

Customer Service depts for this size of a company have extreme turnover, you're likely dealing with low experience reps, trained very poorly, and required to stick to specific scripts no matter what you tell them. Their goal is to get you off the line, not to solve your problem...

Most of my Amazon purchases are pretty unmemorable, but I do save the emails in an Amazon folder for future reference, since my aging memory isn't what it used to be! lol

Thanks, but I don't know about that... Over the years, I've lost some emails due to hard drive issues, since I store my folders/emails locally on my computers, and sometimes I don't have backups or they're corrupt. D'oh!
