Had some free time this morning and thought it would be fun to make a chart of average daily thread views (how many clicks each daily thread gets) on this forum over time. It basically shows how active the forum is, but I also think it's maybe possibly probably a decent-ish indicator of just how active MTurk is in general. Or maybe not, but probably at least closely correlated, I don't know, get off my dick.

Anyways, the verdict is in: it's fooking dead, homies. It's deader than dead.

We went from daily threads averaging 146,827 views in June of 2017 (the highest point) to the current average of 991 views (the lowest point). 2016 through 2019 were amazing. Early 2020 it started to sharply drop, which is weird because that's when the pandemic and work-from-home started, you'd think it'd be the opposite. And since July 2023 it's basically a ghost town (maybe that's when the throttling started? or payment changes for requesters?).

Idk, mildly interesting, I guess.

I think most people are more reticent to participate in online forums, social media, etc. since 2020. because of politics and how it affects these things. people are definitely less likely to participate or say what they really think with polls and stuff too. not sure how much that has affected this forum, but it definitely has.
