    okay I clicked the radio button for it to be sent to my linked bank account. after clicking through 1-2 confirm pages that looked (?) normal, I went back to manage payments. the radio buttons are both cleared back out again, neither is highlighted. it said it had updated/saved my preference but then got rid of it without telling me.

    I found old emails about the Payments account, although I don't remember making one. So I guess someone is trying to steal our funds and hacking into these accounts? Amazon is so fucking lame!

    Just wondering, those without a payments account that have their info right on Mturk, are you US workers?

    Can you add in a lot of us got the Amazon Payments suspended message on Sunday 8/25. Then on Monday the error message changed to:
    “Sorry, there was a problem with the requested page. This was unexpected and we are looking into it. Feel free to contact us if this problem persists for you. In the meantime let's go home and try again.” Then by Tuesday we started getting a different message when trying to accept HITS: “Account set up is not complete. You have additional steps to complete before you can start earning rewards.” It gives a button to click that says “continue account set up” but when we click it, it goes to this message: “
    Your Amazon Payments account has been suspended. You will not be able to use Amazon Mechanical Turk until your Amazon Payments account is in good standing. If you believe this suspension is an error, please contact Amazon Payments Customer Service to resolve this problem.”

    I don't recall making a payment account, I entered my bank info into MTurk. Evidently I do have one, because I found an old email saying they sent my money to my payments account. I am in the US

    I just tried clicking the radio button for transfer to an amazon gift card. after that, I went back to manage payments and looked at the radio buttons. they were both un-highlighted again, both clear. so it won't save either payout choice.

    US worker here as well. Just added 2 factor and my phone to my main Amazon account, we'll see if it helps. :dunno:

    Venmo is part of paypal. so is hyperwallet, which at least as of yesterday was being used successfully by someone in italy. probably not relevant but still.

    Here you go. I remember the Amazon Payment site with the different tabs but i do not know how to get there anymore. I just went through the Mturk site for this

    Old email from December 2019 when they switched over to the current transfer method.

    "We are writing to let you know that there is a new simplified Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) payment transfer option available. This new option will enable you to have your MTurk payments deposited directly into your US bank account on a regular schedule.
    ....
    Please note that we will continue to use your Amazon Payments account as a means to validate your identity. If you delete your Amazon Payments account, it will impact your MTurk Worker account."

    I'm looking at the link on the old payment account message I got when I initiated a transfer to my bank. My worker ID is in one of the links. I'm just trying to figure out, if this is a hack, how did they get the information to attempt to get into our payment accounts?

    8/25 is actually the second wave. There was a group in May/June that got suspended too.

    Yep, they're making us chase our own tails. When I contacted Amazon Web Services (which is what one of the Amazon accounts told one of the Turkopticon folks to do on Twitter) I got this response:

    "Hello,

    While Mechanical Turk does use Amazon Pay for verification purposes, it is a separate Amazon service. I'm unable to assist with the creation, verification, or review of that account. You will need to contact Amazon Pay directly by emailing [email protected].

    I have a hard time believing these accounts being compromised doesn't have something to do with the entire platform being down the other day. Prolific has been attacked a few times.
