Yeah, I'm not impressed about how Amazon handles their issues at all. I've been Turking since 2008 and when things changed it really didn't affect me that much, including now with the suspensions... I'm still able to work. (knock on wood)

 

I would go so far as to say that out of all the things that could potentially happen with this us ever finding out what the problem was/is would probably be just about the most surprising of all

 

If anyone gets bored, maybe contact these reporters who wrote about the Amazon customer glitch, but never mentioned all the MTurk worker accounts that have been compromised or the entire MTurk platform going down. If they think this was just a customer service issue, they are late to the game.

 

closed qual batches just sitting there not really going down at all, makes me uneasy because why would requesters stay on the platform when they can't get workers? thinking of one in particular who constantly spams us with emails that we need to work harder, now it seems like I'm the only one left at all with a functional account so he's gonna be pissed by monday when not enough of the work has done. this really needs to get fixed ASAP or no one is gonna post work on mturk anymore. (and because it is completely unfair to suspended workers ofc)

 

If it's who I'm thinking of ("backlog of tasks" with the batch numbers) multiple people have reached out to him and he's aware of what's going on. It's possible some of the international workers with other payment methods aren't affected.

 

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news; I just logged in and got the Account Suspension message. So, they are still occurring!

I was hoping and praying that everyone affected would get everything resolved asap with no more issues... and that I wouldn't get the dreaded message myself - but I just got it. I've only made about $1.50 over the past 3 or 4 days (no work being posted & I have no 'Sekret quals')... I saw a rare PickFu that looked ok (~2 min for $.40)... I tried to accept and Noooo... I got the message! So, I guess I'm now part of the Cool Kids Club.

I wonder if @ChrisTurk got a suspension? We need special badges! (if everything works out, something like 'Suspension Survivor 2024')

lol yes him exactly. I hope he doesn't leave Mturk, he's always been somewhat frustrated with the platform

absolutely wild to me that so many reliable workers are getting blitzed by mturk, who do they think does the bulk of the work on their platform? it seems like there's literally NO ONE left behind the wheel at all, at this point it feels like we're 2 seconds from the site disappearing entirely and no one besides us even noticing.

 

maybe it's all a psych experiment and at some point they're gonna do just that and then see if they can gaslight us into believing that it never existed to begin with

 

when was the last time you completed a HIT before getting the message? I'm sorry to hear this keeps happening.

Why are Amazon Payments accounts still connected to our MTurk accounts?

"Mechanical Turk stopped using Amazon Payments awhile ago", according to Michael in the Amazon Pay department.

Wouldn't the simple solution be to disconnect or delete these Payment accounts from the system?

 

lol mturk is nowhere near that ambitious. The other day there were 3 batches at once and the site shut down lol

If anyone more articulate than me with more knowledge about what's been going on so far could draft a well-written email for us to use to send to various people such as AWS workers on Linkedin, please do so. To get this fixed, there needs to be an organized effort of us all sending an email message to the same people. We should also decide on who to send it to.

 

we did it. we finally dumbed AI down to the idiot phase. you know, too many copies and they get worse and worse.

 

I think Turkopticon has been doing this.

 

The more people who do it, the better the chance someone higher up sees. Maybe I can ask them for who they're sending emails to.

 

When I was suspended for 8 months, I got a free trial of LinkedIn premium just so I could pester AWS employees lmao. I think they know me by name there.

 

Amazon is not caring about Mturk workers until something big happens (i am guessing) and it hits social media outlets. Many many people are getting suspended day by day.
