Please notify Office of the Research Ethics Board of the University of Toronto. Thank you for taking the time to review this HIT and especially thank you for notifying college research ethics boards. It is wild that supposedly ethical institutions like Universities (many of them super expensive "ivy league") exploit research participants for their own financial gain. The money research participants receive(at least here in USA) is treated by IRS as taxable income, and these institutions know that! To offer less than minimum wage within the US is unethical to say the least. Not sure of laws in Canada, but I imagine there not far off...

I commend your efforts to write letters and I hope you see positive results. I have done some phone calling and letter writing in the past, but got nowhere. I hope you have better luck than I had!

 

While it was my fault for not paying attention and returning the HIT when I should have noticed how extensive it was, that still doesn't make it right. This is my first time making contact with an ethics board. I hope it works out. And maybe I am just a tad bit salty about this survey.
