Basically, Amazon says you can only make 'x' number of Page Requests in 'y' amount of time.

If you're just using www, then you are limiting the amount of Page Requests you can make and you'll start getting the Page Request Errors (PREs) if you do too much stuff at once. By using worker as well as www, then you have to separate sources to pull data from, so you can make double the amount of overall page requests when spread across the two sites.
