Seriously, my husband's next laptop will be his first PC (he's an apple fanboy until they went and lowered the quality of macbooks and got rid of the earphone jacks on the phones). His biggest complaint (besides crippling anxiety about the sheer number of choices) is the weight. I'm like, seriously, you're not standing there holding it while using it, it's not a big deal.

He also can't stand the plastic cases most of them have because they "feel cheap". I do have to give him that one, but that's why I get accidental damage lol, they replace the plastic parts that break.

This was just a joke. I enjoy mocking myself over the fact my fiance makes a bookoo more than I do. I mean, it does mean I get to buy some super nice shoes though and I'm not complaining. We are a team, so it doesn't really matter if he makes 2.5x what I do. I will still make jokes about it though, cause I have a self depracating sense of humor!

Weight of a laptop and heat output (gaming laptops are little ovens) are a big deal if you want to sit on a couch with it on your lap.

But if you aren't a college student (having it in a bag all day ect) and you just use it on a desk the weight isn't that big of a deal.

I will say that I love using my laptop that is under 2lbs on the couch though. It is a lot more relaxing than using a heavier and hotter gaming laptop.

The heat is a huge problem for my current computer, I've had it crash from overheating. But I don't use it on my lap, I got a small table to use it on the couch for the heat reason. $20 at ikea is worth it so I can play my sims when I'm visiting family at their summer home that has satellite internet with a 300 mb daily cap....

unrelated: I know the guy who did the voice work for the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. videos. He's totally not what you'd expect him to be.

    I'm wondering the same thing.
Been Married/together 32 years this month. He was 22 and I was 18. I am a homemaker though not always. I turk to pay off bills and college for the 2 kids. That being said...... I depend on him like crazy, but that's okay he's dependable. I'd like to think he depends on me too.. He says without me everything would fall apart. I love that. :)

Now that is a use case that it makes sense to have a semi beefy laptop.

While I know people who have built ITX desktops for travel a laptop is obviously easier. I feel like most people can get away with having a chromebook as their only computer and for those that need a bit more power while at home a desktop instead of a more powerful laptop will be a better experience overall. (and cheaper)

nothing wrong with a sense of humor and this was aimed more towards the person who wanted the guy so she didn't have to work(which possibly was a joke as well but I just like to spread my mom widsom everywhere. :)

I thought famous last words were:
    "Watch this"
"It is going to be great!"
    "This won't hurt a bit"
    "Cook me some dinner NOW!"

Quitters are survivors... they know when to stop ;)

Dear researcher: If your survey includes a quiz regarding the content on the consent page, I'm probably going to decide that you're going to be kinda a dick about things and will probably just throw back your survey.

Right on! It's a partnership and at the end of the day, we are on the same team and it doesn't really matter who makes more because we both contribute equally in our own ways.

Yay loooove. Congrats on 32 years, that's fabulous.

I mean, we could both survive without the other one, but why the hell would we want to do that anymore?
