Isn't the industry standard outside of mturk $1/min of audio?

 

I don't like transcription and I'm at work where I might have to get up at any moment and actually, yanno, work lol. Too bad it'll expire right as I get home.

 

Not sure, I've only done it through MTurk and pays usually $0.60 - $1.00 per minute.

It looks like the bottom of the barrel was $1/min of audio in 2007. I bet that proper jobs with it make a lot more than that now due to inflation. Meanwhile on mturk...

 

I've just noticed it recently, I thought I maybe had too many tabs open or something, but now that I think about it it's happening on my work and home computers.

 

So I got disqualified for the Cornell Hit. how hard was it to pick out the pictures with the animals? Did I miss something or wrong Demographics ya think? and is this breaking the rules by asking?

$6/hr is good pay, though. Who cares that it was only just slightly above min wage even 10 years ago, money's money and it's just online work, man. It's not like online work could possibly compare to just getting a real job, so you should be grateful for what you can get, even though you have no benefits whatsoever and most requesters walk all over you.

$1/minute seems pretty high. It takes me 2x-3x the length of a clip to transcribe it depending on clarity. If I were making $1/minute I'd be making about $25/hour which seems awfully high.

 

lol i will! it has been hectic for me between taking care of her, she was a rescue, i think she might have been abused but now it coming around and constantly wants to play and i am taking care of my moms sick cat, trying to get band practice in and get atleast 40 on turk a day so been busy, ill post a pic after i jam a lil and she wakes up!

 

That doesn't seem high to me if they want a quality product.

 

Apparently that's pretty standard pay. Not a lot of people can do transcription well, I know I for one just cannot stand listening to people talk, it goes in one ear and out the other.
