My great grandma Bunny, who I adored growing up and taught me how to cook, went by Bunny for so long people couldn't remember her name at her wake and her husband dutifully did not give it up because he knew she loved pissing people off that way. I'm carrying on a long family tradition of women going by nicknames and erasing any incidence of their given name. At least Birdie is a legit old fashioned name people use, River is just, NO. Who does that to their kid?

River Phoenix and River Song were the only ones I can think of. Someone told me one of the Duck Dynasty kids was named River? Which, let's be honest, the kid would be named after Duck Dynasty more likely than River Phoenix.

My point is, still not a common name and bizarre to shit on Birdie and then immediately point to your child named after a body of water.
