That's cool. I always liked the Pub better because Oz was too "pretty boy" for me to deal with. Plus it was nicer to get fresh air on the balcony at the Pub. I stayed away from the old men downstairs at Good Friends (except to use the bathroom when the line got too long upstairs), and I ADORED getting pie-eyed Upstairs at Lafittes. If you were were bald in the mid-90's, chances are little girl drunk me ran up to you and rubbed and your bald head and giggled and thanked you. I had a thing. I also probably picked up more men at Lafittes than the gay men. I have this great story that shall never be told about the office up there... lol

And yes, gay bars lasted longer, had more stable clientele, and were way more fun than the damn straight "dance" bars. Ugh.

 

I still don't get how he makes so much though. I get that he writes his own scripts, but some days I can't find ANY batches that I think anyone could optimize to the extent he does. He's a god at finding batches to optimize. Even if I knew how to script I wouldn't be making half what he makes.

 

No, we're in Illinois now. Was born and raised on the central LA gulf coast; think Berwick-Morgan City-Thibodaux-Houma. All my family is there and in East Texas (Port Arthur and Newton, mainly). But this time of year is peak hurricane time, which starts fall-ish weather here, which turns my brain to winter prep planning. We are out in the boonies, in the ice belt, not snow belt, so it wouldn't be difficult for us to be stranded for some time.

 

OZ started in 1993 as more of a mixed bar but when the Owner (who was married and had a kid) came out around 1996-7 they tried to cater to more gay people. I always played underground house so I usually came on about 1-2am and weekends I would often spin till 7-10am
