I've used several variants of these for years, which is how I was able to come up with accurate estimates for computer power usage in that Reddit comment.

Tech prob: for some reason my internet on my computer (which was working just fine) stopped. I couldn't get online and every time I tried it told me it was either "taking too long to respond" or, on my Firefox browser, it kept saying, "This device is blocked by Access Control in the router." I noticed that my internet was working just fine on my Tablet though.

Called ISP, they said the problem was in my router and I'd have to call Netgear. Long story short, I THINK my ethernet connection is no longer working for some reason. When I pulled the ethernet cable (I think that's what is it anyway) out and now the computer connection runs (although it seems to be going a bit slower if MTurk is any indication.) I click my "Internet connection" icon and it just says 'No internet" under the Ethernet, so I have no idea what happened there. I've tried reseting the router, the Netgrear box, shutting the computer on and off, etc.

    Any ideas? Thanks

Wait, to be clear, the much nicer thing is in regards to the auto-linking (which requires a cumbersome wiki page) not your wage script.

Someone I worked with way back when they were about a dollar each tried to convince me to buy them. He had boughten a bunch and was trying to explain how it's the money of the future and that I'd be an idiot not to. I thought he was an idiot and ignored his recommendation.

I wonder how he's doing nowadays. Probably rich.

    How old is your computer?
Modern desktops get a lot done with only a little power.

My power usage only goes above 200w when I'm playing games or doing anything else that stresses the GPU (3D graphics, etc.).

Aside from that, it stays under 200w constantly, even with just about every power-saving option turned off in both the BIOS and the OS.

It is your fault for having storing your private key on a aws server with the default password.

it sounds like youre running from a wireless connection now that you pulled out the ethernet. if you disable the wireless connection, and ensure the LAN connection is enabled, it'll attempt to connect to that. it honestly sounds like a DHCP issue, but.... without access to the router and whatnot, i really cant give solid advice :/

    For whatever it's worth,

this is the build that I've got running < 200w most of the time with power-saving settings disabled:

and this one generally is less than 100w most of the day:
