Who wants to hear a hilarious/gross/idiotic story?

Spoiler: I cannot make this shit up.

While I was in Texas on a business trip a couple of months ago, I received a frantic call from my ex who'd been renting my house from me over the past several years. He exclaimed that water was pouring from the walls, a pipe had burst, and I needed to hire a plumber to fix it immediately. He turned off the water to that area of the house so that it would not leak further, and I sent a plumber to the house to check it out. Plumber (who is a close friend of the family and really knows his shit) said he couldn't see anything without tearing up the walls and ceiling, and that even if he did so and fixed the leak, it would likely burst elsewhere and my best course of action would be to replace all the plumbing in the house. I decided to do so, but to put it off for a couple of months while I was evicting the ex, so he would not interfere with the process in any way.

When I got home from Texas, I went to the house to check on the situation, and found that the ex had turned the water back on because he wanted to, but miraculously the leak had not seemed to continue. I assumed, since the pipes are extremely old and corroded that the corrosion simply shifted to block the leak, and it was a matter of time before there would be another issue. I decided to let it be and hope for the best, until I could move in and have the plumber redo everything. Worst case scenario, everything bursts, he has too leave sooner than later, and I file an insurance claim.

Fast forward to yesterday. The ex is finally out of the house, we are unpacking and cleaning up after his DISTGUSTING lifestyle which he so kindly left behind for us to deal with, and we find something that just blew my mind.

In the cupboard above where he had seen the supposed leak (pouring from the walls, mind you), was a large can of pineapple. It had been sitting for years, most likely, right next to one of the heating pipes (because he is a genius). The can which we discovered was now puffed up and blown out on either end, full of botulism-riddled black gunk which had exploded out of its can and into cupboard. This disgusting sludge is what my ex had seen dripping down the wall, and not a burst pipe at all.

I cannot make this shit up.

Good news: I do not have to shell out $2-4K right this minute to replace all the pipes.
Bad news: There is disgusting black slime in my cupboard and down my wall.
