11/06 - Polar Bear Week, Monday!

There were these ants that they would put in soup that tasted like lemongrass. I was trying to avoid the ants just try the broth and it was delicious. They told me it was the ants that flavored it, so I just started spooning them up. You get over it pretty quick.

 

True. And I love me some sea bugs.. Love shrimp and crawfish and crab. Lobster is kinda meh - not bad, just bland. I know I'm weird though... I DETEST salmon and tuna. Like if it's fishy fish, I'm gone, man.

 

I dunno. Are you saying you've got Mexican blood in you?

My daughter loved holding chicks and watching them grow up, too.

 

Honestly... I don't consider anything that has been alive at some point to be a "weird" thing to eat. It's all a matter of perspective and associations.

 

More of a poor or rural thing that genetics. My mom had chickens when she was young, but there was like 3 generations living in a tiny house.

 

I'm the pickiest eater on the planet, but I also have the type of personality where I can't resist a challenge. This has led to some interesting situations.

Puerto Rican. My mom didn't speak English till she was 8.

My aunt has a ton of chickens...hmm.

 

Funny, because if fresh and done right, tuna is one of the least fishy fish out there.

And Atlantic Salmon (which is basically the only salmon the East Coast gets) is disgusting. But Coho Salmon and Chinook ("King") Salmon are delicious.

I'd contend that you probably just haven't had them right.
They're non-fresh or prepared improperly more often than not.

I love fresh eggs! I like a nice poached egg on toast with a little salt, and nothing is better than totally fresh eggs.

I also tried to embrace the whole farm thing when we had the cows and chickens and such.

Yes me, the girl who spends a fortune at Sephora and on floral dresses every year.

That's what they tell me about tuna, but every single time I've tried it, it was just fishy and nasty. If I'm gonna mercury myself out on big fish, I'd rather it be shark or dolphin (not Flipper) or something, not tuna. Ugh.

 

Fresh eggs are pretty dope, but I'm not sure I could eat you chicken because they weren't cage free.

Tired as hell, but that's a new personal best for me.

 

The fish that are local to use here in the Pacific Northwest are really good. Our waters are cold and clean.

I've only ever liked fish that are basically native or exclusive to this area.

Whenever I've lived anywhere else, the only seafood I could stand was frozen shrimp.
