11/09 - TREX Thursday!

I'm drinking crummy Miller lites in my PJs and celebrating that tomorrow is Friday by scream-karaoke-singing Elton John to my dogs. This is what my mom does and she's an adult kind of so that makes me an adult kind of too.

It’s true. I chopped up some onions, carrots, garlic, and tomatoes and braised them with the stock, wine, and meat after I sautéed them all in bacon fat. After a couple hours, I took out the beef so I could use my immersion blender to make it all into a delicious stock gravy of deliciousness. Then I added the beef back in with the veggies I wanted to eat with dinner and braised for another hour.

Side bar: I saw Elton a couple of years back in Atlanta and I didn't really care much about it going into it, holy crap he was incredible. I'd be his tiny dancer anyday.

Substitute watermelon vodka or tequila for the miller, and I’m pretty much doing the same most weekend nights. Add in a little yelling at college football games like they can hear me and seeing how many ballet positions I can still do, occasionally poor tap dancing.

 

I liked being an adult when I was actually trying, but I had a pretty good job coming outta school. Money always makes things easier. It was when I got divorced and thought that acting like I was 10 years younger showed me that being 20 wasn't all that great. I just didn't know any better when I was younger.

I really need to get my job back so I can feel useful again, but I'm not sure that is possible.

Have any of you ever tried these Truly drinks? Spiked sparkling water with different flavors at 5% ABV, holy crap they're good.

 

I actually drink miller lite because I can pound a case of those and have no hangover whatsoever. Plus, it tastes much better than bud lite or coors lite.

 

I go to the local hockey games because they have those Redd's Apple Ales on draft. If the home team scores on a power play they are $1 for 5 minutes. I get hammered on those. I don't even care if it's cider.

 

Omg he is so fantastic live!!! I got to see his and Billy Joel's face to face concert or whatever they call it where they play piano facing each other and it was 10/5 amazing. I say that about like 95% of the classic live acts I see though. The only one who's been gravely disappointing has been Bob Dylan but that was no shocker.

 

I can't really do cider's much, unless they have a shot of Fireball. Then I'm in. I think I drunkenly drank too many in college after we got home from the bar because it's what we had left... Also I did the mellow mushroom beer challenge back when they had it, and getting through those ciders wasn't fun.
