Aside from losing a 6 figure job earlier this year that I never want to return to, I'm thousands of miles away from friends and family in a place where I don't fit in and my house is underwater so I can't leave yet anyway. Now that I don't work 65 hour week I don't want to be here in Alabama, but I can't really afford California and I have nowhere else to go. I've considered moving back to NOLA. Plus, I suffer from seasonal changes. Whee!

 

Doesnt it strain a chromebook to run the site and mturk on it?

 

Chromebooks are pretty low-powered budget laptops, it wouldn't surprise me.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like you have a lot on your plate. I hope things work out for you. I lived in New Orleans from 1989-1999 and miss it too but i've been told it's just not like it used to be and things are a lot more expensive than they were.

 

Don't have a Chromebook - my only experience using mTurk on a Chromebook was giving it a run at Walmart. But the vanilla experience I tried on a Chromebook was pretty zippy.

Love it though. Great screen, convenient touch interface, great battery life. It's just not a powerhouse, because it wasn't meant to be.

 

This part of your story sounds almost identical to mine at around this time last year. It sucked.

 

I interrupt your normally scheduled shit posts and Bearnie pics to show you my shitty neighbor's dog (he's not shitty, the neighbors are), who got out cause they don't do much to keep him in, and showed up at my place (cause my blinds are open and he can see the cats/dogs). I put the little dude back in his yard and closed the fence, but I wouldn't be shocked if he shows up again, in which case I'm just gonna put him in my place until they come home.
