i've only ever brewed beer, but i can just about guarantee that's a user error. yeast and bacteria are super fun and interesting when handled the right way. and not in the gross bug way.

I culture my own yeast, and I've had a few missteps over time.

yep, i've cultured yeast from other beers and made beers with it. it's a fun science experiment.

... a science experiment that can go so, so wrong.

 

I've done yeast and yogurt cultures and have had both great success! and then total failure.

I'm pretty sure my yeast became sentient at one point, we had to eradicate those fuckers.

Well, they didn't have any porters or stouts I felt like trying (Chai stout? No thank you), so I got Ommagang Dubbel. It's dark enough and 8%.

They already had the huge display of liquor gift sets out. The Deep Eddy Vodka one is just a bottle of vodka in a jug with a poor spout at the bottom so you can make some kind of punch.

Yeah me too. Ommegang is actually in New York, but it's owned by Duvel, so they know what they're doing. They make some of those Game of Thrones beers that I thought would be a total gimmick, but are actually decent.
