Weird.

 

You know how psychologists talk about FOMO -- fear of missing out, -- and Facebook. Well, I don't really have that issue with Facebook but I definitely feel the FOMO with MTurk.

 

All those quals that I have missed.

 

I guess I'm just hesitant because they come so close to what I want and then leave juuust that little bit out. Like, I don't understand why you can't get the white back light keys in north america, or 32 ram installed, or the glass trackpad from the xps15. I guess I don't understand the weird arbitrary market segmenting dell does. The 7577 is so close to what I think I want that I'll probably just order it, but I still wish they made a mag alloy or milled laptop with no red accents, like a grey/black xps15 but thick enough that the fans and heat pipes actually work.

 

You know about the & > ? in the link, right? It wasn't on that HIT I remember but just in case...

 

I ended up with the 7577 and I do like it. But I totally understand where you're coming from. Dell used to allow you to customize your laptop in that way, like changing the backlight color, and upgrading the ram and then they stopped doing that for some stupid reason. This whole "it's close to what I want but not exactly what I want" thing is why I waited over a year to get my computer. I just finally had to accept that with laptops, you're not going to find one that is 100% what you want, and you don't really have the option of building your own unless you're some kind of wizard. When upgrading to this one, I had to give up my JBL subwolfer speakers in my old dell, and that crushed me. Compared, these speakers suck, but I'm getting used to them.

I'm happy with it. Except for the fact that my chubby hands sometimes hit the mousepad when I don't want it to and do things like submit before I'm finished. But that's a me problem, it was happening on my old laptop as well.
I'm headed to back to bed, but I'm more than willing to talk to some more with you about the computer later in the morning!
