I fit in that second category, so I hope I'm cool to chitchat with....try as I might, $50 a day is only possible with user testing supplements and those are few and far between.

 

to be fair to myself though, i know damn well why I don't make more in a day - I can't grind long term. There's a huge batch of OCMP5's out there, and I can make between $14-22/hr on them....and I've only done 63 today.

This is why I don't make lots of money

 

Story:
My girlfriend had done a ton of HITs and was grumpy and impatient.
She was working on an ad positioning HIT and instead of commenting on which one was better and why, she responded with something like "OMG your [product] is so nice, how can I buy it, I really like it."
This is now our personal inside joke meme for when someone is just clicking without thinking.

Of my own 14 rejections in 50,000+ HITs completed, 99% of them were accidental autosubmits using @Kadauchi "bugged-at-the-time" radio keybinds script (it used to merely check for the presence of either a number or a bottom-row letter key in the "name" of the key, meaning it would accidentally trigger on F1-F12 or on any key whose name included z, x, c, v, b, n, or m. Like tab. Or control. Or...). That's why I went out of my way to tweak it and add a safety mode.

So I'd say it's mostly any of a combination of:

- Your spidey sense didn't trigger correctly to tell you that this requester was shady or incompetent.
- You're worn out or you're being impatient and doing HITs without fully understanding the instructions.
- You've got buggy scripts or don't understand the scripts you're using, and so you're submitting large chunks of bad data without realizing it.

That's a great way to look at mturking. Being new to this myself, I'm home all day and scratching my head as to why I'm not making more. Maybe being a busy bee isn't the whole secret to being successful on here. I think in life you should never settle. Give you a good example. Connor Mcgregor made 100+ million from the fight. Now that's a lot of money, he shared pics of the materials he purchased until one day when he was beside this massive yacht. 350mil for just the yacht, and it made that arrogant savage of a man humble. The fact that someone else behind the scenes is pushing harder, and making more money made him feel like he's not ready to settle. I've never seen someone upset with more money, so those people only making 20 are not grinding, are not trying.

I don't know if it's ADD or what, but I have the hardest time concentrating on a batch. And if the batch isn't happy making for me, then it's that much harder. And surveys take me sooooo long to do for the same reason. And hits with products distract me because I get all "oooh, shiny!". I'll become a real turker one day. LOL

Yeah, idk, before I hit 10k approved I massaged every rejection, but now I just send a mean email and if they overturn the rejection and credit me I send an even more mean message saying I don't want to get compensation unless I provided useful work.

 

Yay- The Laboratory of Cognitive Science wrote back already and told me to take the make-up hit- just click and submit- niice. Evidently I was not the only person who experienced this problem cause I doubt they made hit that fast just for me. I love it when Requesters are fair and appreciate your efforts.

I'm pretty sure your anniversary post was one of the most "upvoted" or w/e posts on the entire site for the year. The mindless day to day stuff beyond that doesn't matter.

Dude I typed that whole half paragraph up before realizing it was my post you quoted.. I thought you were pointing out some AWS doc you linked.. I'm far too lazy to come up with a different joke at this point so lets all pretend my scenario is what actually happened.

 

Also, it sucks when a hit messes up, but then to spend another 10 mins or more trying to make it work, emailing the requester, Grinching about it on the forum, trying different things, etc. It's nice when they at least pay you for the hit.

 

Be careful with using the word "can't".
The problem with telling yourself things like this is that a lot of people trust what they tell themselves.
Say the word "haven't" instead, and you'll be reflecting truthfully on the past without making it bigger than it is. "Haven't" is a statement of fact. "Can't" is a judgment and is usually an extrapolation of the past into the future.

As for me, it's easier to grind batches with music or something similar to draw my attention. Sometimes I'll listen to YouTube music playlists, and (depending on the intensity/size of the batch), sometimes I'll pull a @Randomacts and watch anime (or football, etc.).
