Just finished watching "Stronger" as a New England native and a person that worked in Boston for many years, I really enjoyed it. Like many movies about the area the accent it a little over stated and a bit bother some at times, but it is a great movie about the struggles of PTSD and being thrown into the spotlight.

That Elsa stuff is pretty well-known, if you search Elsa Youtube you should come up with a few different people talking about it.

From what I heard it was a research group putting it out there, I don't think academic but media research.

Some of the Spiderman stuff is really creepy though.

The video linked to on this board is loads less disturbing than Woody Woodpeck and some Tom & Jerry.

Woody Woodpeck... man I don't know how they got that past the censors. :emoji_scream:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/ElsaGate/

There's some super weird ones that go way beyond the video that person was disturbed by in the other thread. Plenty of cartoon ones get super creepy and weird, like the subreddit has some Mickey Mouse assaulting Minnie videos on the front page right now. I've never heard they are research of any sort and can't imagine they actually are. I believe a lot of the cartoons are just algorithms gone wrong, but what about when you get into the live action videos? People dressed up like the Joker and Spiderman gang raping Elsa and stuff.. and then it gets even weirder where real children are bound up and given shots by force in some sort of play doctor scenario.. I don't get it. It seems like child abuse, but I don't think they are filmed in America. I can see algorithms bringing up Hitler Finger because the internet is so damn weird these days, but the real live action ones? I just don't understand.. I don't necessarily believe the conspiracy theories or the trying to decode the comments but I would like some sort of explanation

What's also interesting in these cases, is when there are hits that only give you a very small fraction of the video, ala Will, old google "child safe" requester, reks -- while we're 'categorizing' and marking as safe, what happens when we get a 3-second clip of these horrifying videos that look safe, but we don't see the offending part. I would venture to guess we could be perpetuating it in some circumstances, especially workers not paying attention to work completely, seeing a cartoony animation and marking it as safe/for children/whatever.

Yeah, it's a way for the worst people on the internet like reddit, h3h3 productions, and other garbage-producers to make money.
Youtube knows about it, and condones it.
There's no conspiracy. It's legally-marginal stuff to have out there and it's out there with the full consent and knowledge of YT.
It's market and media research and the bottom-feeders make a lot of money on it.

I do imagine that youtube doesn't really care, I know there's lots of internet warriors out there reporting every video they see out there constantly, but more seem to always be popping up.. I don't really think they are all legal, though. There was DaddyOFive and another big "prank" one that got taken down although I don't think the latter got into legal trouble, but they probably should have. I don't really see how giving a small child an actual shot in their butt in full view, not in any sort of actual medical setting, can be legal. Or bounding a child up with duct tape. But these ones I think are mostly filmed in Russia so I'm not sure there's much that can be done besides removing them.

I've wondered that, too. A lot of these videos are totally innocuous for most of the video, and then suddenly Pikachu is peeing in a blue Pikachu's cup.. and parents are non the wiser because they may be listening to the kid as they do their own work, so they hear the damn Family Finger song 500000 times a day but don't see what's actually happening. I've wondered if maybe the same videos are being put up in different hits with just different segments to be rated.. but I don't know.

I do assume they're split up into multiple segments, but when you have even one worker not paying attention to clips, they could get the clip of Mario looking up Princess Peach's dress but let the script mark it as default because they're ~*totally paying attention~* while 10-tabbing hits.

*NOT calling out anyone specifically, not even you RA. A lot of people do this. It's just an example. I hope nobody's offended, plz don't hate me.
