I always smile when these surveys ask me to which rung of society I belong. If I were anything above rung 1, would I be working on mturk? (I am sure there are exceptions, though.)

Given the amount of people in poverty in the country, I consider rung 1 to be poverty or worse. Like, minimal education and limited access to food and basic resources. I think with even a basic education, roof over your head, and food in your belly, it's at least rung 2. Not to mention other resources like internet, car, tv.

Well...my situation is a bit unique, at the moment. It is a long story, but technically (as the government defines it), I am "homeless":

I make more money on mturk than you can make at a min wage job. Shit I make more than my brother does as a sub teacher so

 

by that definition homeless still doesn't necessarily equates to poor, but hey i dunno your situation, so shrugs

I am starting at 4-5 rung this year. I will miss the 6 rung but I no longer make that amount of money(I still get to count the hubbys $$ so that is why I am above 4 on the ladder).
