People are stupid/forgetful and if you've never had to pay to get busted pipes fixed you don't have the fear to be proactive.

Also at least in my area of Texas we don't have basements.

Edit: My area not all of Texas. I am sure some people are lucky enough to have a basement.

Yeah, but @Confirmed Robot and I live in the same area and almost every house has a basement and cold temps aren't *that* unusual here .

 

I've never even had to leave the faucets dripping in Texas regardless. It just doesn't get cold enough unless you live in the panhandle, but no one cares about Tech anyways.

It's been in the low 20's here so we've definitely been leaving ours dripping because the husband doesn't want to have to crawl under the house to fix anything that breaks lol

 

Not sure what the issue is, it just usually isn't this frigid for so many days in a row. Our house has a basement and most of our plumbing is on interior walls as apposed to an outer wall so we're good.

 

He was pretty adorable. I'd've named him Pennywise and maybe even given him a cute balloon to hold.

Everyone has a basement after a tri-state tornado completely decimated the town I live in, in the 1920's.
