    Eh I dunno, you can achieve a lot in most modern games by turning the settings to rock-bottom and turning resolution down.

    I've played CSGO, which is a Source game as well, on a laptop I bought for $200 off eBay a couple of years ago. I lowered the settings quite a bit, but was able to get a solid 30-40FPS on that. Hell, that's like 10FPS higher than 12-year-olds who come from playing console games are used to.

    Hmm I'm showing a ~$82 difference between adding vs. 2018 total. Haven't had more then a few bucks in bonuses this year so it's not that.

    Most competitive players I know use really barebones graphics configs specifically so they can get 300+ frames. On one hand the game looks ugly, but on the other it plays smooth as heck. I don't think CSGO has the same issues as TF2, with it's 10 years worth of garbage code and shitty unusual effects on both hats and weapons now, though.
